At the top of the KC Chutes - Snake was open, but upper Cedar wasn’t so this was about as high as you could traverse to it. - Location
They blew past the four metre mark in settled snow at the plot today, with a total season snowfall of ten metres. The new snow was the good stuff too and the skiing was excellent in boot high, or better, creamy powder. A strong wind kept resurfacing things as did the often heavy snowfall. Add to that so few folks that I never managed a chair lift companion and you have strong reaffirmation of why storm days are my favourite.
Virtually everything was good, but if pressed for a negative, the groomers were probably not very friendly for beginners. Where the loose snow was beaten down at lower elevations, it could have that uncomfortable packed snowball texture. Not much was packed though and it certainly wasn’t a problem for advanced skiers.
Upper Lizard was closed above Tower Six road and upper Cedar was closed above Alpine Way and beyond Cruiser. However everything else other than the Saddles and Polar remained open despite the wind and falling snow,
At 15:45 it is 1 C at the house and my driveway is filling up yet again.
